La Plata, MD- On February 7, 2022, at approximately 4:11 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Oak Avenue for the report of a burglary. Upon arrival, four individuals fled the home on foot.

Officers pursued the suspects on foot apprehending one of the involved. A second suspect was apprehended by responding members of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. The third suspect was apprehended a short time later. The fourth suspect eluded arrest but was identified during the course of the follow-up investigation.

The investigation found the four suspects entered the home through a rear window. While inside the home, the suspects burned a portion of the carpet and also vandalized several windows, walls, and a refrigerator. The home had been recently renovated for sale.

The Fire Marshal’s report states that the estimated damage is $12,000.00

Investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene. The three suspects, all juveniles, were arrested charged with various related offenses, and released to a parent or guardian. Charges are pending on the fourth suspect.
