In a challenging season finale, the St. Mary’s College of Maryland Women’s Basketball Team concluded their regular campaign with a visit to Penn State Abington, facing off against the Nittany Lions in Abington, Pennsylvania. The matchup concluded with the Seahawks standing at a 13-11 season record, while the Nittany Lions improved to 11-14.
The game commenced with Penn State Abington quickly establishing dominance by scoring the first six points. However, St. Mary’s responded with Olivia Liszt making a significant impact by getting the Seahawks on the scoreboard with a layup. Contributions came from Olivia Hedrick and Amira Whitaker, each adding a basket, while Tramarie Mobray executed a strategic layup to close the quarter. The first period ended with the Nittany Lions leading 12-8.

St. Mary’s rallied in the second quarter, primarily through the efforts of Olivia Liszt, who significantly shifted the game’s momentum. Liszt successfully connected on three consecutive three-pointers, granting St. Mary’s their first lead of the game. However, the Nittany Lions managed to reclaim and maintain their lead, concluding the first half with a narrow two-point advantage. The third quarter saw the Seahawks’ Mobray and Whitaker initially narrow the gap, but the Nittany Lions extended their lead to double digits. Despite persistent efforts from Mobray, Hedrick, and Liszt, Penn State Abington maintained control, ending the quarter ahead 58-37.
In the final quarter, St. Mary’s fought hard to close the gap, capitalizing on free-throw opportunities through Liszt, Mobray, and Sam Blaylock. Nevertheless, despite their relentless effort throughout the 40 minutes, the Seahawks were unable to overturn the deficit, concluding the game with a 74-53 loss.
Highlighting the game’s statistics, Olivia Liszt led the Seahawks with an impressive 24 points, showcasing her critical role in the team’s offensive strategies. Tramarie Mobray also made significant contributions with nine points and two assists, demonstrating the team’s collaborative effort despite the challenging outcome.
