Annapolis, MD — The Maryland Business Roundtable for Education (MBRT) recently honored Kelley Haina of Calvert High School among The 24: Maryland’s Emerging Scholars. This accolade celebrates 24 distinguished high school students from across the state, each representing their school district, acknowledged for their remarkable achievements in leadership, academic success, and compassion initiatives.

Selected from a competitive pool, these students have been recognized for their extraordinary contributions to their communities, significant leadership roles within their schools, and outstanding academic performance. A particular emphasis was placed on those who have engaged in MBRT programs and showed interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) careers, further enhancing their eligibility for this prestigious award.
“We are thrilled to honor these remarkable young individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to making a positive impact in their communities,” stated Sharon Markley Schreiber, Executive Director of the MBRT. “Their commitment to service, leadership, and academic excellence serves as an inspiration to us all.”

The award reception, held in Annapolis on March 13, 2024, coincided with the MBRT’s annual Youth Congress Day. This event assembles students, educators, and leaders from government and business sectors to celebrate Maryland’s youth achievements while deliberating on the future of education and workforce development in the state.
These young scholars embody the promise of Maryland’s future, showcasing an unwavering dedication to community service, academic rigor, and leadership. Their achievements highlight the importance of nurturing talent across diverse fields, particularly in areas critical to future innovation and societal development.
