LATHAM, N.Y. — Ty Tindal, a first-year talent from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, has been named the United East Conference Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, a recognition announced by the conference on Tuesday, April 2. This accolade marks Tindal’s second such honor for the outdoor season, complementing a United East Field Athlete of the Week award earned during the indoor season.
At the Third Annual Seahawk Invitational, Tindal led St. Mary’s College with groundbreaking performances, setting three new school records. He clinched the 400m dash, establishing a new school and personal record of 49.79 seconds, surpassing the previous best of 50.13 seconds set by Avery Arizpe ’24 on May 1, 2021.

Further showcasing his versatility, Tindal played a pivotal role in the 4x100m relay team’s second-place finish. The team clocked in at 42.26 seconds, breaking the previous school record of 42.97 seconds established just two weeks prior. Additionally, Tindal anchored the 4x400m relay team to second place with a time of 3:31.36, shortly after setting a new school record in the long jump. His leap of 6.39 meters eclipsed the former record of 5.72 meters set by Amaun Hill ’24.
These achievements place Tindal fifth in the Mid-Atlantic region for the 400m dash and eighth in the long jump. St. Mary’s College is set to compete next at the Delaware State University Invite on Saturday, April 13, in Dover, Delaware.
