ST. MARY’S COLLEGE, Md. — The top-ranked Salisbury University lacrosse team decisively defeated St. Mary’s College of Maryland, ending the Seahawks’ three-game winning streak with an 18-5 victory on Tuesday night.
The game, a break from conference play for both teams, saw Salisbury extend their perfect season record to 15-0, while St. Mary’s fell to 10-4.
Early Game Dynamics Salisbury quickly established a lead, scoring two goals in the first six minutes. St. Mary’s responded with a goal from sophomore Joshua Martel and senior Brandon Dabkowski, making it a one-goal game briefly. However, the Sea Gulls then went on a relentless 10-0 run, opening a substantial 12-1 lead by the third quarter.

St. Mary’s managed to find the net twice more in the third, but Salisbury’s aggressive play continued, entering the final quarter leading by 13 goals.
Statistical Overview Salisbury outperformed St. Mary’s across multiple metrics. The Sea Gulls had a significant advantage in shots, 56-20, and in ground balls, 38-21. They also dominated the face-off X, winning 19 out of 27 attempts.
Despite these challenges, the Seahawks showcased resilience in their man-down defense, limiting Salisbury to just one goal from four man-up opportunities. However, the turnovers were a critical issue for St. Mary’s, who recorded a season-high 22 turnovers.
Individual Highlights On the St. Mary’s side, five players scored, with notable performances from junior Drew Goldscheider and freshman Declan Horton. Goalkeepers Ty Grove and Cullen McKay also made significant contributions under pressure.
For Salisbury, standout players included Luke Nestor and Jude Brown, a former Seahawk, who both scored six points, helping their team maintain an unbeaten streak.
