PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., May 6, 2024 – Calvert County is making fresh, local food more accessible by hosting multiple farmers markets across the area, offering an assortment of produce, meats, and other locally-sourced goods. Markets will operate on various days and locations through the spring and fall, supporting local farmers, agri-businesses, and watermen.

The Calvert County Farmers Market Association has scheduled markets in Prince Frederick, Dunkirk, Lusby, and North Beach, where residents can find fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs, and meats, as well as bedding plants including vegetables and herbs. These markets provide a direct channel for farmers to sell their produce and for consumers to buy fresh and local products.

Market Schedule and Locations:

  • Prince Frederick: Held at the CalvertHealth Medical Center back parking lot on Tuesdays from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m., running from April 30 to November 26.
  • Dunkirk: Located at the entrance of Dunkirk District Park on Thursdays from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., from May 9 to September 5.
  • Lusby: Taking place in the Sneade’s Ace Home Center parking lot on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., between May 11 and September 21.
  • North Beach: Hosted at the North Beach Senior Center parking lot on Saturdays from 8 to 11:30 a.m., from April 13 to October 26. This market is managed by the Town of North Beach.

These markets, classified as “producers only,” mandate that all items sold must be grown or produced by the vendor themselves. This ensures the authenticity and quality of the goods purchased, benefiting both local producers and consumers.
