LEONARDTOWN, MD – St. Mary’s County residents and visitors have the opportunity to support local farmers and artisans by shopping at three county-sponsored farmers markets. These markets offer a range of fresh produce, locally raised meats, seafood, and other artisan goods. The county government is actively promoting these markets as key community attractions for the season.
The first of these markets, Home Grown Farm Market, operates year-round on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Located at 21078 Three Notch Road in Lexington Park, this market provides an assortment of local produce and goods. More details can be found on their Facebook page at Home Grown Farm Market.

The Barns at New Market, open from March 30 through October 26, offers a larger venue with both indoor and outdoor vending spaces. It operates on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and also from Wednesday to Saturday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. for outdoor vendors. This market is situated at 29133 Thompson Corner Road in Mechanicsville, and further information is available on its Facebook page at The Barns at New Market.
The third market, California Farmers Market, runs from April 27 to November 23, and is open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This market is uniquely located in the BAE parking lot at the junction of Rt. 235 and Town Creek Drive in California, MD. Additional details are accessible on its Facebook page at California BAE Farmers Market.
