
LEONARDTOWN, MD (May 20, 2024) – A motor vehicle accident on Great Mills Road resulted in the arrest of a driver who fled the scene on foot, leaving behind another injured driver.
On Saturday, May 18, 2024, deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call reporting a motor vehicle accident with injuries in the 21000 block of Great Mills Road. According to several witnesses, the operator of one of the involved vehicles had fled the scene on foot.
Upon their arrival, deputies discovered a head-on collision involving two vehicles. The driver of the at-fault vehicle was confirmed to have fled. Witnesses provided information that assisted the deputies in locating and identifying the individual as Patrick Shawn Daly Jr., 35, of Lexington Park.
The driver of the second vehicle sustained injuries from the collision and was transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment. The nature and extent of the injuries were not disclosed.
Daly was subsequently arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown. He has been charged with Failure to Remain at the Scene of an Accident with Injuries, among other related offenses.
