The Bowie Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, clinched a series split with the Somerset Patriots, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, with a 6-3 victory on Sunday afternoon at TD Bank Ballpark. The win was highlighted by a standout performance from starting right-hander Kyle Brnovich, who threw six no-hit innings.
Brnovich (4-1) dominated on the mound, allowing just one walk while striking out six over his six-inning outing. This marked the longest start by a Baysox pitcher this season. In his two starts against Somerset this week, Brnovich pitched 11 innings, surrendered just one earned run, and struck out nine. He now boasts a 1.50 ERA and a 0.79 WHIP over five starts this season.

Bowie (25-25) took an early lead in the game with an RBI infield single from Max Wagner off Somerset’s starting left-hander Brock Selvidge (4-4). The Baysox extended their lead in the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly to left field by TT Bowens, who recorded his team-leading 32nd RBI of the season. Bowens is currently tied for fifth in the Eastern League in RBIs.
The Baysox added two more runs in the seventh inning with RBI singles from Jud Fabian and John Rhodes. Somerset (25-26) managed to break Bowie’s combined no-hit bid in the bottom of the seventh when Agustin Ramirez doubled off right-hander Morgan McSweeney.
Bowie secured their largest lead of the game in the eighth inning with an RBI single from Dylan Beavers and a balk by Somerset reliever Jack Neely, which allowed Anthony Servideo to score from third, making it 6-0. Beavers had a strong performance, reaching base four times with two walks and two singles.
Somerset attempted a late comeback in the eighth inning, cutting the lead in half with an RBI double from Spencer Jones and a two-run single from Elijah Dunham. However, right-hander Dylan Heid (S, 3) came in to retire the final five batters, sealing the victory for the Baysox.
The Baysox will return home to begin their next series on Tuesday, June 4, against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets, at 6:35 p.m. at Prince George’s Stadium.
