
A man was charged with first-degree assault on Saturday after he pointed a gun at a group of people in George B. Cecil Park in Valley Lee, Maryland, according to a news release from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.
Witnesses told deputies that they saw Javonte Taevon Fenwick, 18, of Hollywood, Maryland, pointing a gun at the group after an altercation.
Fenwick ran away from the scene but was quickly apprehended by deputies near Flat Iron Road, according to the news release.
He was taken to the Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown and is currently awaiting a bond hearing, the news release said.
Fenwick also faces charges of use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime, second-degree assault and illegal possession of a regulated firearm.
