The Bowie Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, secured a decisive 4-1 victory over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets, on Tuesday night at Prince George’s Stadium.
Seth Johnson Shines on the Mound

Starting right-hander Seth Johnson was a standout for Bowie, delivering four shutout innings. Johnson allowed just one hit, issued two walks, and struck out a season-high eight batters, although he did not factor into the decision. This impressive performance continued a strong stretch for the Orioles’ No. 10 prospect, who has given up only two earned runs over his last four starts spanning 17 innings. Johnson’s ERA at home now stands at an impressive 2.36 across five starts.
Johnson’s performance on Tuesday marked his best strikeout game since May 20, 2022, when he fanned eight or more while with High-A Bowling Green against Greensboro.
Early Offense Propels Baysox
Bowie (26-25) initiated the scoring in the second inning with a two-run homer by John Rhodes off Binghamton starting right-hander Nolan McLean (L, 0-2). This was Rhodes’ first home run since April 24 at Richmond and his third of the season.
The Baysox extended their lead in the third inning, adding two more runs. Dylan Beavers hit an RBI single, followed by an RBI groundout from TT Bowens, making it 4-0. Beavers has now reached base in 37 of the 44 games he has played this season. Bowens’ RBI was his team-leading 33rd of the season, tying him for the fifth-most in the league.
Strong Bullpen Effort
Left-hander Ryan Hennen (W, 2-2) took over pitching duties in the fifth inning and surrendered Binghamton’s lone run, a solo homer by JT Schwartz. Despite this, Hennen settled down to pitch 1.2 innings before handing over to right-hander Houston Roth. Roth maintained the lead with 2.1 scoreless, hitless innings, striking out two batters.
Right-hander Dan Hammer (S, 1) secured his first save of the season, closing out the game with a scoreless ninth inning, ensuring the Baysox’s 4-1 victory.
Continued Success Against Binghamton
This win marks the Baysox’s fifth victory in seven games against Binghamton this season, pushing Bowie back above .500. The Baysox aim to continue their successful run as they proceed with their six-game home stand against Binghamton.
Looking Ahead
The series continues tomorrow night at 6:35 p.m., with Bowie’s RHP Alex Pham (1-1, 6.64 ERA) set to start against Binghamton’s RHP Justin Jarvis (3-1, 2.21 ERA).
