The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) announced the 2024 Division III Team Academic Award recipients and the 2024 Division III Scholar All-Americans on June 13. St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s men’s lacrosse team and Ethan Little ’24 were recognized for their academic excellence.

For the third consecutive season, St. Mary’s College received the USILA All-Academic Team Award, boasting a 3.322 team grade point average (GPA) for the 2023-24 academic year. The USILA honors programs that achieve a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the academic year.

“I was thrilled to have us named to the Honor Roll again this year. Our athletes work tremendously hard to attack their academics, and for us to be rewarded with this and have a 3.3 team GPA is an awesome testament to the consequences of great behavior,” said Head Coach Jason Childs, now in his ninth year with the team.

Ethan Little, a senior from Bel Air, Maryland, was named a Scholar All-American, becoming the 15th Seahawk to receive this honor. Little, who maintained a 3.283 GPA as an economics major and business minor, follows in the footsteps of Cal Wilcox ’23, who received the award last year. Little also earned a spot on the United East Conference Spring All-Academic Team this season.

“I am very happy for Ethan. This is why he is the epitome of what we are looking for our athletes to achieve. He delivered an incredible effort both on and off the field. He is a remarkable young man who had an incredible career here, and I am very happy he was able to close out his career as a Scholar All-American! What an honor!” exclaimed Childs.

In his final season with the Seahawks, Little recorded 59 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers, both team second-bests. He ranked fifth in the United East Conference for caused turnovers and sixth for ground balls. Offensively, Little contributed four goals and five assists.

Little’s career at St. Mary’s College was distinguished by multiple accolades. He was a two-time Honorable Mention USILA All-American (2023 and 2024), a 2024 Intercollegiate Men’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) All-Region 2 Honorable Mention, and a back-to-back United East Defensive Player of the Year (2023 and 2024).

Additionally, Little was a three-time consecutive All-United East selection, making the First Team in 2022 and 2024. He earned six career United East Defensive Player of the Week awards and was named to the USILA Division III Team of the Week four times during his tenure.

Over his four-year career, Little amassed 222 ground balls and 95 caused turnovers. He also added 26 goals and 12 assists for a total of 38 career points in transition. Little reached his 200th ground ball with a four-ground ball performance on April 6 against Bryn Athyn College.

St. Mary’s College (14-7) captured their third consecutive United East Men’s Lacrosse Championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship Tournament for the second straight year.
