LEONARDTOWN, MD — A fire broke out inside a fifth-wheel RV early Monday morning at 23285 Point Lookout Road, injuring one adult female, according to the Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department. The incident, which is currently under investigation, occurred at approximately 8:10 a.m.

The fire began in the interior of the RV owned by Christopher Hall and Christin Braddy. An adult female occupant sustained burns and was airlifted for treatment; she was later released. Two children were also inside the RV at the time but were unharmed.

Firefighters responded swiftly, bringing the blaze under control within three minutes of their arrival. Despite the quick response, the RV sustained minimal structural damage estimated at $200, with additional content losses of approximately $50. Officials noted that there were no working smoke detectors in the RV, which could have alerted the occupants earlier. Responders provided smoke detectors to the occupants at the scene.

The preliminary investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

The Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department dispatched 15 firefighters to tackle the blaze, which was discovered by the occupants themselves. Despite the quick control of the fire, the absence of smoke alarms in the RV highlights ongoing concerns about fire safety in such living conditions.
