The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is gearing up to host the 2024 Annual National Night Out, inviting residents to join a community-building event set for Tuesday, August 6, 2024. The nationwide campaign seeks to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and community members through a series of local gatherings.
Scheduled from 6 to 8 pm, the event will see Sheriff’s Deputies, Maryland State Police, elected officials, and representatives from volunteer fire departments and rescue squads joining various neighborhoods across St. Mary’s County. Locations participating in the event include Birch Way, Cecil Mills, Cedar Cove, Clarks Rest, and several others, highlighting an extensive community outreach.
National Night Out aims to foster a sense of community and improve relations between residents and public safety officials. The gatherings provide an environment for residents to connect with each other and engage directly with the officials tasked with their safety, making law enforcement efforts more effective and community-oriented.
Residents wishing to register their neighborhood for the event are encouraged to visit the Sheriff’s Office website or contact the organizers via email by Friday, August 2, 2024, for pre-registration. This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote safety and trust within the community, reflecting the event’s long-standing goal of enhancing the partnership between the public and law enforcement.
