In the early hours of July 24, Charles County officers detained a man following a brief chase involving a stolen vehicle. The incident, which occurred near Hamilton Place, involved Anthony Kavon Brown, 24, who is now facing multiple charges.

Officers initially noticed a red Toyota Prius, which had been reported stolen in St. Mary’s County, parked suspiciously. When they approached, the driver attempted to flee, leading to a pursuit that ended when the vehicle struck a curb on Ruston Place. The occupants then fled on foot.

A subsequent report of suspicious activity in Bannister Circle led officers to Brown, who was found with the keys to the stolen Prius. Brown, a Waldorf resident, was already wanted for failing to appear in court on charges including armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms.

Earlier this year, Brown had been released from the Charles County Detention Center under electronic monitoring, which he violated by removing his monitoring device. After his arrest in the stolen vehicle case, Brown was treated for injuries sustained while fleeing before being booked into the Charles County Detention Center on charges of theft and failure to appear.

Brown is currently being held without bond. The Charles County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate and encourages anyone with further information to contact PFC Mayhew at 301-609-3282 ext. 0519.
