St. Mary’s College of Maryland Director of Athletics & Recreation, Crystal Gibson, has been named the 3rd Vice President for the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators (NADIIIAA) for the 2024-25 membership year. Gibson’s new role signifies her entry into the presidential rotation within the organization, a position she approaches with a wealth of experience and accolades from her tenure in college athletics.
“I am honored to continue working alongside this incredible leadership group,” Gibson remarked. “It is a privilege to represent St. Mary’s College, the United East Conference, and Division III in this role.”

Gibson joined the NADIIIAA board as an at-large member in June 2022 and is slated to become the 2nd Vice President in 2025-26, followed by 1st Vice President in 2026-27. She will ultimately assume the presidency in the 2027-28 membership year.
Her leadership has been pivotal at St. Mary’s College, especially as she marks her fifth year as the director of athletics & recreation. Under her guidance, the college’s athletics program has thrived, achieving significant success both academically and competitively. The Seahawks have won the United East Conference Presidents’ Cups for two consecutive years (2022-23 and 2023-24) and secured 15 tournament championship titles in just three years of conference membership. They have also consistently ranked in the top three for academic excellence among league peers.
In addition to her roles within NADIIIAA, Gibson commenced a four-year term with the NCAA Division III Management Council in January 2024. The Council, a high-level NCAA committee and the highest on which an athletics director can serve, reports directly to the Presidents Council. It oversees the implementation of policies adopted by the NCAA Board of Governors and the Division III Presidents Council.
NADIIIAA comprises over 700 athletics administrators from more than 350 institutions and conferences competing at the NCAA Division III level. The Association promotes the development of athletics programs that prioritize the student-athlete and adhere to educational principles and the philosophy of Division III.
