In a display of relentless offense, the Bowie Baysox, Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, triumphed over the Harrisburg Senators with a decisive 17-8 win at Prince George’s Stadium on Friday night, marking their third straight victory.
The Baysox exploded out of the gate, countering the Senators’ early two-run lead with eight runs in the first two innings. Silas Ardoin, continuing his eight-game hitting streak, drove in the initial run for Bowie with a single, followed by a series of hits that escalated their lead, highlighted by Frederick Bencosme’s grand slam — his first in his career.

Bowie’s offensive onslaught continued through the middle innings, with Samuel Basallo and Dylan Beavers contributing key RBIs. John Rhodes, another standout, hit his eighth home run of the season and collected multiple RBIs, underscoring a strong performance that also included a pivotal defensive play—a catch that deprived Harrisburg’s Daylen Lile of a home run.
Pitching also played a critical role in Bowie’s win. Starter Carlos Tavera lasted three innings before Cameron Weston took over. Weston’s 4.1 innings of work earned him the win, enhancing his season record to 5-6 and lowering his ERA to 2.53 across eight relief appearances.
The game was as much about individual milestones as team success. In addition to Bencosme’s grand slam, several other players had notable performances. Six Baysox players achieved multiple hits in the game, showcasing the depth of Bowie’s lineup.
Looking ahead, the Baysox are set to continue their home series with a doubleheader against the Senators. The series includes promotional events such as Touch a Truck night and giveaways, adding a community-focused celebration to the sporting excitement.
With this victory, Bowie improves their season record slightly, but still reflects a challenging season, demonstrating the fluctuating nature of minor league baseball where development often takes precedence over consistent winning.
