A tragic vehicle accident occurred on Tuesday evening in Lexington Park, Maryland, resulting in the death of a driver following a medical emergency, according to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office. The incident, involving a Jeep Grand Cherokee, happened around 6:40 p.m. on Forest Park Road.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division were dispatched to the scene following reports of a single-vehicle collision. Upon arrival, they learned from the vehicle’s passenger that the driver suffered a medical issue which caused the vehicle to veer off the road.
The driver was quickly transported to a local hospital but was later pronounced dead. The identity of the driver has not been released pending notification of next of kin. The passenger, who was also in the Jeep at the time of the incident, was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure for a medical evaluation. There have been no further updates on the passenger’s condition.
