Budds Creek, MD — In an exhilarating display of skill and speed, Severna Park, Maryland native Kyle Lear clinched his second win of the season in the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature at Potomac Speedway on Friday. Piloting the Ray Ciccarelli-owned Rocket No.151, Lear notched his 29th career victory at this historic Southern Maryland racing venue.

Lear, starting second, quickly seized the lead on the opening lap and maintained it throughout the race. However, victory was not easily secured as Kenny Moreland, who eventually finished second, consistently challenged Lear, nearly overtaking him several times. Despite the intense pressure, Lear held firm, crossing the finish line first.

Reflecting on the race and the future changes at Potomac Speedway, Lear expressed gratitude toward the track’s management, “We all got the news that Ronnie and Denise wouldn’t be back for the 2025 season and I just want to thank them personally for giving us a great place to race for all the time that they were there. We have a great group of people behind us that work hard and give me what I need to win.”

The event also saw robust performances in other categories. Defending track champion Wyatt Hanson captured his fourth win of the season in the 15-lap Street Stock feature, with PJ Hatcher and Scotty Nelson rounding out the top three.

In the Hobby Stock class, Mason Hanson also claimed his fourth win of 2024, topping Watson Gordon and Ralph Price. Meanwhile, Justin Knight celebrated a victorious return in the UCar category, marking his first start of the season with a win, followed by Faith Lacey and Travis Dye.

The Strictly Stock feature was dominated by Nabil Guffey, who continued his dream season with a seventh victory. Jayden Hatcher and Larry Fuchs completed the top three, showcasing the depth of talent across the evening’s races.

As the dust settled, the drivers and teams reflected on a night of fierce competition and memorable performances, setting the stage for the remainder of the racing season at Potomac Speedway.
