On the morning of August 15, law enforcement officials responded to an incident at a gas station and mini-mart on the 6900 block of Indian Head Highway in Bryans Road, Maryland, following reports of an attempted fraud involving a stolen debit card. The card was reported to have been taken along with a vehicle earlier that day.
Upon arriving at the scene shortly before 9 a.m., officers reviewed surveillance footage which captured a female suspect attempting to make a purchase with the stolen debit card. The suspect then fled the location in the stolen vehicle, identified as a red Nissan Kicks.

Further investigation led to the identification of the suspects involved in the incident. The driver of the stolen vehicle was identified as 36-year-old James Keith Hare of Bryans Road. The female suspect captured on camera was identified as 27-year-old Giavonnie Shardonnay Johnson, also from Bryans Road.
Authorities tracked down the suspects by surveying areas frequently visited by them and subsequently located both nearby. Hare and Johnson were arrested, and the victim’s stolen debit card was recovered at the scene. Hare faces charges of theft and is currently held without bond. Johnson was charged with theft, destruction of property, assault, and attempted theft using a stolen debit card.
Despite the charges, Johnson was released from the Charles County Detention Center on the same day by a district court commissioner on personal recognizance. Officers Giroux and Thomson are leading the ongoing investigation into the incident.
This event highlights the quick response and investigative efforts of the local police, leading to the rapid apprehension of the suspects and recovery of stolen property.
