Damon Clyburn Glenn, 43, of Waldorf Credit: Charles County Sheriff’s Office

WALDORF, MD – A domestic-related assault in Waldorf escalated to threats with a firearm on Monday morning, leading to the arrest of a local man. Damon Clyburn Glenn, 43, was taken into custody after police were called to the scene in the 2000 block of Amberleaf Place.

According to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded around 9:22 a.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting the incident. They found the victim in the parking lot, who detailed a violent altercation that began during an argument with Glenn inside their apartment. The dispute turned physical when Glenn allegedly choked the victim and later threatened her life with a gun.

Fearing for her safety, the victim seized an opportunity to escape the apartment and alert authorities. Responding officers attempted to make contact with Glenn who initially refused to come out of the apartment, prompting the establishment of a perimeter to secure the area.

Corporal S. Rollins, a trained crisis intervention officer, played a crucial role in de-escalating the situation. After establishing rapport with Glenn, she successfully convinced him to exit the apartment peacefully approximately 20 minutes later. A subsequent search of the apartment led to the recovery of the firearm involved.

Glenn faces charges of first-degree assault and was subsequently released from the Charles County Detention Center under electronic monitoring following a judge’s order on Tuesday.

Police have emphasized the importance of crisis intervention training in resolving such incidents safely and effectively. PFC Z. Snyder is the investigating officer in the ongoing case.
