A Waldorf man was apprehended after allegedly violating a protective order and assaulting a woman at her residence. The incident occurred on August 29 in the 1900 block of Hilton Court, as reported by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.
Patrol officers responded to a distress call around 5:52 p.m. from a victim who claimed that Cozell Ryan Johnson, 37, had entered her home and physically attacked her. Upon arrival, officers noted visible injuries on the victim, including several scratches on her face.
Johnson was spotted by Officer Knight near the scene and was arrested without further confrontation. A subsequent check revealed that Johnson, a resident of Bryans Road, MD, was already wanted on an active warrant related to a prior assault case.
Following his arrest, Johnson was transported to the Charles County Detention Center. There, he was formally charged with assault and violating a final protective order. On the following day, a local judge ordered that Johnson be held without bond pending further proceedings.
The case is currently under investigation by PFC McCuen of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. The authorities have not released further details about the incident as the investigation continues.
