VIENNA, VA — On September 3, 2024, Crowded House, the renowned rock band known for their eclectic pop melodies, delivered a compelling performance at the Filene Center at Wolf Trap, treating fans to a blend of classic hits and new tracks from their latest album, “Gravity Stairs.”

Opening with “Recurring Dream,” the band set an energetic tone for the evening. The set list spanned their storied career, including iconic songs such as “Don’t Dream It’s Over,” “Something So Strong,” and “Weather With You,” alongside newer material that showcased the band’s ongoing evolution.

Particularly notable was the presence of band founder Neil Finn and bassist Nick Seymour, the consistent heart of the group since its formation in Melbourne in 1985. The current lineup also includes Finn’s sons, Liam and Elroy, demonstrating a familial synergy on stage that enriched the performance.

The evening’s encore featured memorable moments, including a rendition of the Split Enz hit “I Got You” and a snippet of The Beatles’ “Birthday,” underscoring the band’s broad musical influences. The inclusion of “Catherine Wheels,” requested via paper airplane by a fan, added a unique, interactive element to the show.

Crowded House’s performance at Wolf Trap not only highlighted their classic hits but also emphasized their resilience and adaptability over decades. Since their initial disbandment in 1996 and subsequent reformations, the band has navigated through personal and professional changes, including the tragic loss of original drummer Paul Hester in 2005, and the integration of new members like American musicians Mark Hart and Matt Sherrod in later years.

Their induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2016 and the sale of over 15 million albums worldwide testify to their enduring appeal and the deep connection they foster with audiences globally.

This tour, which follows the release of their most recent album in 2024, marks a vital phase in Crowded House’s journey, combining their rich musical legacy with fresh creative energy, much to the delight of both long-time followers and new listeners.
