Early Monday morning, a severe fire ravaged a residential home at 47758 Sunset Manor Lane in St. Inigoes, Maryland. Multiple fire departments and emergency service units responded to the incident, which was first spotted by a Naval District Washington (NDW) Police Officer at approximately 5:29 a.m. The officer promptly reported the blaze to NDW Dispatch, which then alerted the St. Mary’s County 911 Center.

Upon arrival, firefighters from Bay District Stations 3 and 9, along with crews from Ridge Volunteer Fire Department, NDW Webster Field, Second District Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad, Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department, Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department, and Seventh District Volunteer Fire Department, were met with intense flames engulfing the single-story home, which also featured a basement. The fire had spread throughout the structure, severely damaging the roof and compromising the integrity of the building, leading firefighting teams to initiate a defensive operation to combat the fire.

The coordinated effort among the fire departments and several local EMS units spanned over three hours as they worked to contain and ultimately extinguish the fire. Despite the extensive damage to the property, there have been no injuries reported in connection with the incident.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal. As this investigation continues, officials aim to determine the factors that led to such a significant event, ensuring that the community receives answers and that measures can be taken to prevent future incidents.

Authorities have not yet released details regarding potential displacements or the estimated cost of the damage caused by the fire. The community and local support systems are prepared to assist those affected by this tragedy as more information becomes available.
