Naval Air Station Patuxent River has announced a change in the schedule for its upcoming Field Carrier Landing Practices (FCLPs), now set to begin earlier than previously planned. The critical flight training exercises will commence on September 10, 2024, and continue through September 30, 2024, occurring daily from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
These training exercises are designed to prepare pilots for the challenging task of landing on the deck of an aircraft carrier. Pilots will engage in numerous touch-and-go maneuvers, known as “bounces,” which are essential for honing the skills required to execute safe and successful carrier landings. This type of training is considered one of the most demanding and skill-intensive in military aviation.
