HILLCREST HEIGHTS, Md. – The Prince George’s County Police Department has arrested and charged two individuals in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on Thursday inside a Hillcrest Heights store. The suspects, 19-year-old Andres Rodriguez-Corona of Waldorf and 22-year-old Carl Sanders of Washington, D.C., are facing charges related to the murder of 24-year-old Dominique Hodge, also of Washington, D.C. Police continue to search for a third suspect and are requesting the public’s help in identifying him.

The shooting took place on October 10, 2024, at approximately 5:50 p.m. at a business in the 3700 block of Branch Avenue. Officers responding to the scene found Hodge suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim had been shopping at the time of the incident. Fortunately, no other customers or employees were injured in the shooting.

Following the shooting, a patrol officer from the Oxon Hill Division IV observed three males matching the description of the suspects walking about half a mile from the crime scene. The officer attempted to stop the individuals, but they fled on foot. The officer pursued and was able to apprehend Rodriguez-Corona, who was found to be in possession of a handgun at the time of his arrest.

Later that night, at approximately 11:25 p.m., investigators arrested Sanders following a traffic stop near 28th Avenue and St. Barnabas Road in Temple Hills. Two ghost guns, which are firearms that lack serial numbers and are difficult to trace, were recovered from the vehicle Sanders was in.

The initial investigation indicates that the suspects specifically targeted Hodge, though the exact motive remains unclear and is still under investigation. Authorities have not yet provided further details on what led to the attack inside the store.

Rodriguez-Corona is facing charges of first- and second-degree murder, along with related offenses. Sanders has been charged with multiple firearms violations. Both suspects are currently being held in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

An active search is underway for the third suspect involved in the fatal shooting. Detectives have released a photo of this individual and are urging anyone with information about his identity or the case to come forward. Those with relevant information are encouraged to contact the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 301-516-2512.
