The Maryland State Board of Elections has issued a reminder that in-person early voting for the 2024 General Election will begin on Thursday, October 24, and run through Thursday, October 31. Early voting centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.

A complete list of early voting locations is available on the Board’s website, including an option to view the list in Spanish. The site also notes that some early voting locations have changed since July’s Primary Election, so voters are encouraged to verify their early voting location before heading to the polls.

Voter Registration Available During Early Voting

For Marylanders who have not yet registered to vote, the State Board of Elections advises that they can still register in person during early voting or on Election Day, which falls on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Voters who wish to register at their polling place should bring a document that proves their residence, such as a utility bill, bank statement, or government ID.

Mail-In Voting Option

For those preferring to vote by mail, Maryland offers a mail-in voting option. However, the deadline to request a mail-in ballot by mail is fast approaching. Requests must be received, not just postmarked, by October 29. Voters who opt for a web delivery ballot have until November 1 to make their request. The Board’s mail-in ballot webpage provides details on how to request a ballot.

To ensure mail-in ballots are counted, voters must ensure their ballots are postmarked by or before 8 p.m. on November 5. Alternatively, voters can return their ballots by hand to a ballot drop box or their local board of elections. All ballots delivered in person must be dropped off no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day. A list of ballot drop box locations is available on the Board’s website.

Election Day Voting Information

For those choosing to vote on Election Day, polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5. Voters can locate their designated polling place by visiting the State Board of Elections’ Find My Polling Place portal online.

The Maryland State Board of Elections encourages all eligible voters to participate in the upcoming election and take advantage of the multiple voting options available.
