St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s men’s and women’s rowing teams concluded their fall season with strong finishes at the Head of the Occoquan, held in Fairfax Station, Virginia. The Seahawks competed against teams across multiple divisions, marking their second and final regatta for the fall season with notable placements.

Men’s Rowing Team Results

In the Men’s Collegiate Varsity 8 (Event 37), the St. Mary’s Seahawks secured a 7th-place finish out of 10 teams. The squad, with a final time of 17:11.170, recorded the second-best performance among Division III teams in this event. The lineup, coxed by Hayden Wolinski, included Tomas Meisner, Myles Sampson, Hank Russell, Finn Parkinson, Nathan Girma, Nic Bloom, Nobu Smith, and Noah Hanscom. Their performance underscored their competitiveness within Division III, even as they raced against schools from multiple divisions.

In the Men’s Collegiate Varsity 4 event (Event 49), the Seahawks finished 7th out of 10 teams, clocking in at 19:02.142. Coxswain Anna Forsbacka led rowers Chris Nemes, Chris Leonard, Joel Galarza, and Neil Haggerty in this race.

The Men’s Collegiate Novice 4 team delivered an impressive performance, finishing 6th out of 11 and leading all Division III teams in their category. With a time of 21:03.217, the novice team showcased emerging talent, led by coxswain Nova Wagner, with rowers Huck Dunn, Alexander Price, Jonathan Rand-Crawford, and Lucca Costantino.

Women’s Rowing Team Results

The Women’s Collegiate Varsity Rowing team, competing in Event 34, placed 6th out of 16 teams, leading all Division III participants. With a time of 11:54.35, the varsity team—coxed by Tiffany Dioko and rowers Haley Roche, Abby Shackelford, Erin Rhodes, Elise Kinyanjui, Claire Thompson, Nadia Velasco, Anna Culver, and Lara Pauw—demonstrated resilience in a field with strong Division I and II competitors.

The Women’s Collegiate Novice 8 team claimed 4th place out of 14 teams in their race, finishing as the top Division III team with a time of 14:05.36. This team, led by coxswain Margaret Kincer and rowers Clare Ahunhodjaev, Lucy Worthington, Alexandra Cumber, Gillian Brewer, Georgina Casciani, Abby Leslie, Haylie Katz, and Caroline Holloway, showed promise as they gained valuable experience and competitive exposure.
