With impressive performances across both squads, these honors underscored the hard work and dedication of each athlete who contributed to the teams’ progress this season.
Women’s Soccer: Freshman Talent Leads to Success
In a season that saw the CSM Hawks women’s soccer team reach the regional championship for the second consecutive year, standout players emerged, particularly among the freshman ranks. Freshmen forwards Sara Allwine and Abigail May made a formidable duo and were named First Team All-Region honorees for their offensive prowess and impactful play.
Sara Allwine quickly made her mark as a key player. Known for her speed and technical skills, she consistently pressured defenses, scoring crucial goals and providing assists throughout the season. Her coach and teammates recognized her as a player who excelled in high-stakes moments, frequently creating opportunities to keep the team competitive.
Her forward partner, Abigail May, complemented Allwine’s efforts with her own unique approach. A forward with a tactical mindset, May consistently generated scoring chances with her positioning and finishing abilities, enhancing the team’s attacking play. Together, Allwine and May became a formidable offensive pairing, their combined skills propelling the Hawks’ women’s team to a successful season.
Adding defensive strength to the team was sophomore defender Zoi Whitsett, who earned Second Team All-Region honors for her role in fortifying the backline. Whitsett’s defensive skills and leadership made her essential in maintaining stability on the field, helping to keep opponents’ scoring opportunities in check.
Freshman goalkeeper Kylie Smith also earned a place on the Second Team for her performances in goal. Smith was known for her quick reflexes and ability to command the area, delivering several clean sheets and crucial saves that made her a standout figure in the Hawks’ defense. Her reliability in goal gave the team added confidence in their defensive structure.
