Waldorf, MD- A Charles County man with a long history of playing the lottery has claimed a $150,000 Powerball prize, thanks to his decision to add the Power Play option to his ticket. The Waldorf resident, who has been playing Mega Millions and Powerball regularly, purchased his winning ticket at NSR Mart / Corner Xpress, located at 7756 Leonardtown Road in Hughesville, Maryland.

The man, who remains anonymous, bought a $12 ticket for the Nov. 11 Powerball drawing, opting for three plays. For two of those, he allowed the lottery terminal to select the numbers. To increase his chances, he also added the Power Play and Double Play options, costing an additional $2 per game.

When he returned to the retailer the next day to scan his ticket, he was met with the “See Lottery” message. Realizing he had a winning ticket, he immediately called his wife to share the good news. “Matching four white balls and the Powerball earns $50,000, but the Power Play option tripled his prize to $150,000,” Maryland Lottery officials confirmed in a statement.

This significant win adds to the Waldorf man’s history of lottery success. He previously won prizes on back-to-back $30 Pick 4 bets, solidifying his reputation as a lucky player.

The winner, who has worked in logistics for nearly three decades, says he plans to use his newfound windfall to pay off credit card balances. In addition to his career, he enjoys buying and selling vintage cars, but he does not have any other immediate plans for the prize money.

The $150,000 prize marks the 54th third-tier winning Powerball ticket sold in Maryland this year, highlighting the popularity of the game in the state. Powerball tickets with the Power Play option allow players to multiply their winnings on non-jackpot prizes, depending on the multiplier drawn during the game.

The NSR Mart / Corner Xpress, where the ticket was purchased, has also gained local recognition as a lucky retailer. The store, located in the Hughesville area, is known for selling tickets for both Mega Millions and Powerball, drawing regular lottery enthusiasts from surrounding communities.

For Maryland residents, this win serves as a reminder of the potential rewards of Powerball and Mega Millions tickets, particularly when adding multipliers like Power Play. The Waldorf resident’s story also underscores the unpredictability and excitement of the lottery experience.
