UPDATE 8:13 a.m.- The Southern Maryland Chronicle was finally able to log into its account and make and send an invoice. However, the first attempt to make the invoice results in an error. It took two attempts to complete this. So it appears PayPal is slowly getting back online.

Tens of thousands of PayPal users have been left unable to access their accounts due to a major outage that began around 7 a.m. ET today. The issue has affected both personal and business accounts, causing widespread frustration among customers.

Outage tracker Downdetector has recorded over 5,180 reports of issues, with most complaints centered on users being unable to log in to their accounts.

Many users attempting to sign in are greeted with an error message stating, “Some of your info isn’t correct. Please try again.” Additionally, customers are reporting difficulties contacting PayPal’s customer service, with some saying the company’s call center numbers are also unreachable.

Frustrated customers have turned to social media to voice their complaints. One user posted on X (formerly Twitter), “It seems PayPal is having a complete meltdown as nobody can log in or get through via their call center.”

Another wrote, “I’ve been having PayPal sign-in issues for the past hour. Even the call center telephone numbers are failing to connect today.”

As of now, PayPal has not issued a public statement regarding the cause of the outage or provided an estimated timeline for resolution. Users are advised to monitor PayPal’s official social media channels and website for updates.

This outage has disrupted services for businesses relying on PayPal for transactions and individuals who use the platform for personal payments, further underscoring its widespread impact.
