Senior captain Charlotte Horn (Schwenksville, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) has been named to the prestigious 2024 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Senior Team, recognizing her outstanding collegiate career at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Horn is among 60 standout student-athletes from 46 Division III field hockey programs to receive this honor.
This accolade celebrates the impact of senior athletes on and off the field. Horn becomes the eighth Seahawk to earn a place on the NFHCA National Senior Team, joining a legacy that includes Audrey Dickens ’23, Lauriann Parker ’13, Allie Skiest ’11, Emily Smithson ’09, Amy Skrickus ’08, and Melissa Moore ’98.

An Accomplished Career
Horn, a 5-5 defender, stands out as the only player from the United East Conference to be named to the Senior Team this year. Over her four years with the Seahawks, Horn played in and started all 71 games, amassing an impressive record of 13 assists, six goals, and six defensive saves. Notably, this season she notched her first two career game-winning goals in victories against Sewanee: University of the South (Sept. 1) and Keystone College (Nov. 9).
Horn’s leadership as a two-year team captain has been instrumental to the program’s success. She is a three-time NFHCA All-Region IV honoree, earning Second Team recognition in 2021 and 2022 and First Team honors in 2023. Her defensive prowess earned her three Defensive Player of the Year awards—two in the Atlantic East and one in the United East—along with four First Team All-Conference selections across both conferences.
A Season to Remember
In the 2024 season, Horn anchored a defensive unit that achieved eight shutouts while contributing significantly to the Seahawks’ offense. She scored three goals, including a team second-best two game-winning goals, and provided six assists, tying for third in the United East. Horn also made two defensive saves this season. Her standout performance in the United East Championship game, where she scored twice, earned her the Tournament MVP title.
Program Milestones
Horn’s individual success mirrors the achievements of the St. Mary’s field hockey program. In 2024, the Seahawks claimed their second straight United East Conference championship title and made their second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship Tournament. In their first season in the United East, the Seahawks went undefeated in conference play, extending their streak to 22-0 over the last four seasons.
Continuing the Legacy
Horn’s inclusion on the NFHCA National Senior Team solidifies her legacy as one of the most accomplished players in St. Mary’s history. Her combination of defensive dominance, offensive contributions, and leadership has left a lasting impact on the Seahawks program and set a high standard for future players.
