ST. MARY’S COUNTY, Md. — Authorities in St. Mary’s County responded to an alert from the Prince George’s County Police Department early on November 24 regarding a stolen 2023 Dodge Charger reportedly in the area. The alert prompted a swift response from local law enforcement, culminating in a high-speed chase and arrests.

At approximately 11:05 a.m., St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office deputies located the stolen vehicle traveling northbound on Route 235 near Route 246. When deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Pegg Road, the car fled, initiating a pursuit that ended with a crash on FDR Boulevard. Four occupants fled on foot, and deputies apprehended three individuals. A fourth suspect remains at large.

Apprehended Suspects and Charges

Among those arrested were two juveniles, ages 14 and 17, and an adult, identified as 26-year-old Jordan Xavier Rutledge of Lexington Park. The 14-year-old passenger was found in possession of a stolen firearm originating from Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The 17-year-old driver, charged as an adult, faces numerous charges, including:

  • Illegal possession of a regulated firearm
  • Possession of a regulated stolen firearm
  • Loaded handgun in vehicle and on person
  • Unlawful taking of a motor vehicle
  • Possession of contraband in a place of confinement
  • Multiple traffic violations

Additionally, the 17-year-old faces drug-related charges for possession of cannabis under 18 and possession of a controlled dangerous substance (not cannabis). He is being held at the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center pending a bond hearing.

Rutledge was released while potential charges against him remain under review. Law enforcement noted that the identities of juveniles charged as adults cannot be disclosed due to legal protections.

Fourth Suspect at Large

The fourth suspect, described as a Black male wearing all-black clothing, has yet to be identified. Law enforcement continues to investigate the case and search for the individual.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to its allied agencies for their assistance. Maryland State Police Troopers, Maryland State Police Aviation Command, and the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit contributed to the efforts during the incident.
