The Seahawks opened the game with a dominant first quarter, racing to a 28-8 lead. Five players contributed to the scoring barrage, with Rayna Miller leading the way with nine points. St. Mary’s capitalized on mid-range jumpers and strong drives to the basket, overwhelming the Gators’ defense.

However, momentum shifted in the second quarter. Russell Sage found their rhythm offensively, outscoring St. Mary’s 27-14. The Seahawks cooled off from the field, while the Gators surged, led by a strong effort from Halimah Hajhassan. St. Mary’s maintained a seven-point advantage at halftime, thanks in part to key contributions from Hajhassan and a timely three-pointer by Sam Blaylock.

A Battle Through the Third Quarter

The third quarter saw the Gators continue their offensive dominance, overtaking the Seahawks and building a six-point lead heading into the final period. Russell Sage outscored St. Mary’s 28-15 in the quarter, as the Seahawks struggled to counter the Gators’ hot shooting. Tramarie Mobray and Keira Mason kept St. Mary’s within striking distance with critical buckets and hustle plays.

Seahawks’ Late Surge Secures Victory

Facing a 12-point deficit with six minutes remaining, St. Mary’s rallied. Tightening their defense and attacking the paint, the Seahawks went on a 13-0 run to reclaim the lead with under three minutes left. Miller, Mobray, and Mason combined for key layups and drew fouls to get to the free-throw line.

After briefly relinquishing the lead, St. Mary’s responded with another clutch 7-0 run, fueled by five free throws, to seal the win. Defensive stops in the final moments ensured the Seahawks emerged victorious in a game that came down to the wire.
