In a move to bolster the local arts community, the Calvert Arts Council has introduced an annual membership program aimed at expanding opportunities for artists and promoting arts activities throughout Calvert County. For just $25 per year, members will gain access to exclusive perks designed to connect artists with the public and fellow creators, with more benefits expected to be added in the future.
New Opportunities for Artists
The membership includes two initial perks that provide artists with unique platforms to showcase their work and share resources:
- Art Around the County
This program allows artists to display their creations at local businesses for three-month rotations. Unlike some programs, this initiative is non-juried, making it accessible to a wider range of artists, particularly those who may not currently display their work at the CalvArt Gallery. - Art Corkboard
Members can post flyers to a publicly viewable webpage on the Arts Council’s site, which is also promoted via social media and newsletters. Flyers can be used to announce:- Art events like shows, classes, or performances.
- Art-related equipment for sale or wanted.
- Artist or performer meet-ups in Calvert County.
These tools are designed to make it easier for local artists to connect with audiences, sell equipment, and collaborate on creative endeavors.
How to Join and Participate
Artists interested in these benefits can become members by signing up for the Arts Council Membership plan on the organization’s website. Once registered, members can create a login to access exclusive features:
- Add Media to Art Corkboard: Members can upload flyers directly to the Corkboard page.
- Sign Up for Art Around the County: Accessible via the dropdown menu after login, this feature allows members to reserve a spot in the display rotation.
Support the Arts Beyond Participation
Even individuals who may not plan to use these benefits are encouraged to join the membership program. The $25 fee supports the Calvert Arts Council’s mission to foster creativity and provide programs for the community.
“This membership program is a meaningful way to support local artists and the arts in Calvert County,” said a council representative. “Whether you’re an artist seeking new opportunities or someone who values the role of arts in our community, your membership makes a difference.”
