St. Mary’s City, MD — The St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s basketball team (6-3) pulled away in the fourth quarter to secure a decisive 84-66 victory over Cedar Crest College (1-4) in a United East Conference clash on Thursday night. The Seahawks, fueled by balanced scoring and sharp shooting, outscored the Falcons by 18 points in the final period to seal the win.


How It Unfolded

The Seahawks set the tone early, racing to a 17-9 advantage in the first quarter. Sam Blaylock led the charge with seven points, including a key three-pointer, while Olivia Liszt contributed six points to build the initial lead.

Cedar Crest responded strongly in the second quarter, outscoring St. Mary’s 19-12 to cut the deficit to one by halftime. Liszt continued her scoring momentum with another six points, while Tramarie Mobray chipped in five to keep the Seahawks competitive.

The third quarter saw both teams trading baskets in a tightly contested 10-minute stretch. The Falcons surged ahead by as much as seven points, but the Seahawks clawed back, thanks in part to Ji-Young Hartman’s clutch three-pointer that swung the momentum back to the home team. The teams entered the fourth quarter tied at 51.

In the final quarter, the Seahawks dominated on both ends of the floor. They shot an efficient 50% from the field and an impressive 57% from beyond the arc, while limiting Cedar Crest to just 15 points.
