LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A major vehicle collision on Thursday morning sent two individuals to the hospital, including one with life-threatening injuries. The crash occurred around 11:48 a.m. on January 2, 2025, at the intersection of Three Notch Road and Corporate Drive in Lexington Park.

Maryland State Police from the Leonardtown Barrack responded to the scene after reports of a serious three-vehicle accident. According to preliminary investigations, the crash was initiated by an unsafe lane change made by the driver of one of the vehicles. This action caused the at-fault vehicle to collide with a second vehicle, leading to both vehicles overturning. A third vehicle was also involved in the incident, though its driver escaped without injury.

The driver responsible for the unsafe lane change sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to Shock Trauma by Trooper 7. The driver of the second vehicle, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, was transported to MedStar Washington Hospital via Trooper 2. The driver of the third vehicle was not injured during the collision.

Investigators are working to gather more details about the circumstances surrounding the crash. Maryland State Police are asking for assistance from the public.
