Staten Island, N.Y. (Jan. 11, 2025) – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams delivered strong performances at the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartan Invitational, held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. Competing against a mix of NCAA Division I, II, and III teams, the Seahawks set several personal and school records.
Women’s Team Highlights

60m Dash and Hurdles
Chay’La Rivers showcased her speed and versatility, finishing the 60m dash in 8.42 seconds to take 42nd place in a competitive field. Rivers also set a new personal and school record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.58, earning 15th place.
Middle Distance Events
Avery Arizzi led the Seahawks in the 500m dash, setting a new school record and personal best with a time of 1:24.60 to finish 17th. Teammates Mileah Cotton (1:26.24) and Dami Akinsanya (1:32.42) followed closely, placing 22nd and 33rd, respectively.
Madison Kingsley earned a personal record in the 1 Mile event, completing the race in 6:06.62 for 33rd place.
Field Events
Rocksann Smith excelled in the Triple Jump, earning 14th place with a jump of 10.43 meters, breaking the St. Mary’s school record and setting a personal best.
In the Shot Put, Jillian Zukley led the Seahawks with a throw of 11.83 meters, securing 4th place and reaffirming her qualification for the 2025 AARTFC Championship.
Team Relay
The women’s 4000m Distance Medley Relay team of Mileah Cotton, Rocksann Smith, Avery Arizzi, and Madison Kingsley clocked in at 14:02.50.
Men’s Team Highlights

Sprints and Hurdles
Mason Layne led the Seahawks in the 60m dash with a time of 7.48, earning a personal best. Teammates Jaedon Aso (7.66) and Zack Kralec (7.90) also set new personal records.
In the 60m hurdles, Nick Haylock secured 19th place with a time of 9.13, setting a personal best.
Middle Distance Events
In the 500m dash, Jake Robey finished in 1:09.59, earning 18th place and breaking the St. Mary’s school record while setting a personal best.
In the 400m event, Moses McRae led the Seahawks with a time of 52.39, followed by Henry Wilcox (53.76) and Nick Haylock (53.79).
Relay Teams
The men’s 4x200m relay team of Mason Layne, Jaedon Aso, Henry Wilcox, and Nick Haylock set a new St. Mary’s school record with a time of 1:36.21.
The 4000m Distance Medley Relay team, composed of Pierson Hogue, Henry Wilcox, RJ Etzler, and Blake Carberry, completed the race in 11:52.66.
Field Events
Zack Kralec achieved 8th place in the Pole Vault with a height of 4.32 meters, setting both a personal record and a new school record.

The Seahawks will next compete at the Alvernia Winter Invite on January 18 in Reading, Pennsylvania.
