Bluegrass fans are in for a treat as the legendary Lonesome River Band returns to Southern Maryland on Sunday, February 9, 2025, for the fifth concert in the Southern Maryland Bluegrass Concert Series. The performance, hosted by Jay Armsworthy, will take place at 2 p.m. at the Calvert Elks Lodge in Prince Frederick, Maryland, located at 1015 Dares Beach Road. Doors open at noon.
Lonesome River Band, or LRB as they are often called, has been a mainstay in bluegrass for over 40 years, earning widespread admiration and influencing generations of musicians. Known for their chart-topping hits and award-winning performances, the band continues to deliver their signature blend of authentic bluegrass.

Band leader Sammy Shelor, a five-time IBMA Banjo Player of the Year and recipient of the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass, expressed his excitement about performing in Southern Maryland again. “After 40 years in the business, LRB is looking forward to bringing some new music to our wonderful Southern Maryland friends once again,” Shelor said.
The band’s achievements include multiple #1 hits on Bluegrass Unlimited, Bluegrass Today, and Billboard’s Bluegrass Albums charts. They have shared the stage with notable artists such as Alan Jackson, Luke Bryan, and Lee Ann Womack. Shelor and bandmate Mike Hartgrove have even performed alongside Steve Martin during the 43rd American Film Institute Life Achievement Award gala.
Tickets for the February 9 show are $23 per person, with children under 12 admitted free with a paying adult. Food will be available for purchase from noon until 2 p.m., including hamburgers and hot dogs prepared by the Calvert Elks.
