ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. — Three members of the St. Mary’s College of Maryland volleyball team have been named to the prestigious College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Team for their exceptional performances on the court and in the classroom. Senior Ellie Matthews (Hollywood, Md./Leonardtown), junior Julia Bobrowski (California, Md./Leonardtown), and sophomore Arielle Lubeck (Virginia Beach, Va./Bayside) earned the honor for the 2024 season, with Matthews receiving her second consecutive selection.

The CSC Academic All-District® Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, highlight the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined academic and athletic achievements. Nominees must maintain a minimum 3.50 GPA and demonstrate exceptional athletic contributions. The program separately recognizes volleyball players across NCAA Divisions I, II, III, and the NAIA.

Matthews, a biology major with a 3.7 GPA, contributed significantly to the Seahawks’ success this season. The 5-foot-9 middle blocker appeared in 27 matches with 22 starts, recording 65 kills, 32.0 total blocks, and 16 digs. Her efforts helped St. Mary’s College advance to the semifinals of the United East Conference Tournament as the No. 3 seed.

Bobrowski, a business administration major with a 3.62 GPA, had an outstanding season, earning First Team All-United East honors. The 5-foot-6 outside hitter ranked among the top players in the conference, finishing fifth in total points (329), seventh in digs (360), ninth in kills (260), and 10th in both kills per set (2.48) and service aces (52). She was also tied for eighth in points per set with 3.13.

Lubeck, a biology major and Spanish minor with a 3.8 GPA, made her mark as a key contributor for the Seahawks. The 5-foot-6 setter was named to the United East All-Sportsmanship Team and tallied 416 assists, 243 digs, and 30 service aces. Her efforts were instrumental in the team’s impressive 18-11 overall record, including a 9-1 mark in United East Conference play.

These Academic All-District® honors underscore the balance of academic excellence and athletic performance demonstrated by Matthews, Bobrowski, and Lubeck. St. Mary’s College continues to celebrate the achievements of its student-athletes both in competition and in the classroom.
