For the second consecutive week, Keira Mason, a standout first-year forward from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, has been recognized by the United East Conference. On Monday, January 20, Mason was named the United East Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, adding to her growing list of accolades.

This latest honor comes just one week after Mason earned Defensive Player of the Week, making her one of the few players to secure both offensive and defensive awards in the same season.

Dominating Performances Power Seahawks’ Success

Mason delivered two exceptional performances last week, leading the Seahawks to a pair of victories that extended their win streak to five games. She averaged:

  • 21.5 points
  • 14.5 rebounds
  • 1.5 assists
  • 1.5 steals
  • 1.0 blocks
  • 57.1% shooting from the field

The Seahawks began the week with a dominant 96-47 road win over the University of Valley Forge on January 14. Mason posted her sixth double-double of the season in that game, finishing with 25 points and a career-high 16 rebounds, along with three steals and two assists.

Mason followed that performance with another double-double, her third consecutive and seventh of the season, in a hard-fought 65-57 victory over Lancaster Bible College on January 18. She contributed 18 points, 13 rebounds, two blocks, and an assist to secure the win.

Conference Rankings and Season Highlights

Mason’s consistency and skill have made her one of the top players in the United East Conference:

  • 3rd in field-goal percentage at 50.6%
  • 5th in rebounds per game with 9.6
  • 9th in scoring, averaging 14.5 points per game

Her contributions have been instrumental in St. Mary’s College’s impressive 11-6 overall record and 8-0 conference standing.

What’s Next for the Seahawks

The Seahawks return to action on Wednesday, January 22, when they host Gallaudet University (9-8, 6-2 UEC) in a pivotal United East Conference matchup. The game will tip off at 5 p.m. at the Michael P. O’Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena and will feature Teacher Appreciation Night.
