LA PLATA, MD—Authorities in La Plata are actively searching for Thomas Caparella-Monat, 32, of Port Republic, MD, who is wanted in connection with a violent domestic-related assault. Police allege that Caparella-Monat choked a woman and punched her, breaking her nose. He reportedly fled the scene after the assault and stole a roadside memorial cross.

Caparella-Monat faces multiple charges, including robbery, first- and second-degree assault, malicious destruction of property, and theft. He is known to frequent bars in La Plata and Charles County.

Caparella-Monat is described as bald with brown eyes, standing 5’8″ tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds. He has distinctive tattoos, including a large skull on the front of his neck, lettering above his eyebrows, the word “Hope” on the left side of his face, and a cherub above his left ear. He was last seen with a patchy beard on his chin and small patches of facial hair above and below his lips.
