The St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s and women’s swimming teams secured decisive road victories over William Peace University on Saturday, January 25, 2025. The women’s team posted an impressive 180-68 win, while the men’s team claimed a 165.50-79.50 victory.
Sophomore Kelsie Miller led the women’s team with four event wins, as the Seahawks improved to 10-6 on the season. Miller contributed to the 200-medley relay win with teammates sophomore Emerson Young, junior Venus Kai Judge, and first-year Addison Willey, clocking in at 1:53.57. Individually, Miller dominated the 200-butterfly (2:10.74), the 100-freestyle (52.68), and the 200-individual medley (2:11.52).

Young also impressed with wins in the 100-backstroke (1:02.56) and the 50-freestyle (24.63), while placing second in the 100-freestyle (54.37). First-year Ella Malzahn took top honors in the 200-breaststroke with a season-best 2:44.65 and the 100-butterfly (1:05.73). Judge secured first place in the 500-freestyle (5:44.73) and second in the 200-butterfly (2:31.81).
The men’s team improved to 9-6, capturing nine of 14 events. Senior captain Luke Schwenk led the way with three individual victories, claiming first in the 100-backstroke (53.82), the 50-freestyle (20.33), and the 100-freestyle (45.77).
Sophomore Daniel Madigan added three wins, including the 100-breaststroke (1:01.14), the 200-breaststroke (2:15.50), and the 200-medley relay, where he teamed with junior captain William Kendrick, sophomore Kyle Smith, and sophomore Anthony Davis for a time of 1:38.34.

First-year Harrison Greenwald delivered strong distance performances, winning the 1000-freestyle (10:11.19) and the 500-freestyle (4:55.41). Davis tied for first in the 200-freestyle (1:50.29) and notched two second-place finishes in the 50-freestyle (22.42) and the 100-freestyle (50.19).
The Seahawks will next compete on February 1 at 1 p.m. against Southern Virginia University in their home pool at the Aquatics Center in St. Mary’s City, Maryland. The meet will also serve as Senior Day, honoring graduating athletes.
