St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s swimming team delivered a dominant performance on the opening night of the 2025 Atlantic East Conference Swimming Championships, winning both the 200-medley relay and 800-freestyle relay. Their success gave them an early lead in the team standings with 80 points, placing them 12 points ahead of two-time defending champions Marymount University.

St. Mary’s, a previous two-time Atlantic East champion in 2021 and 2022, started the meet strong as the 200-medley relay team of Emerson Young, Venus Kai Judge, Kelsie Miller, and Addison Willey set a new conference and championship record. Their time of 1:49.12 was 2.28 seconds ahead of Marymount, securing a crucial win for the Seahawks.

The team followed that victory with another commanding performance in the 800-freestyle relay, where Judge, Mandy Cartwright, Lauren Goulet, and Willey won by a margin of 10.71 seconds. With two relay titles on the first night, St. Mary’s firmly positioned itself as a contender for the overall championship.

The Seahawks now lead the six-team standings, followed by Marymount with 68 points, Immaculata University with 62, Cedar Crest College with 58, Gallaudet University with 54, and Marywood University with 32.

Competition will continue from February 14-16 at the Aquatics Center in St. Mary’s City, Maryland, where St. Mary’s will look to build on its early momentum and capture another conference championship.
