A Prince Frederick man pleaded guilty to first-degree premeditated murder in the fatal stabbing of Shaquille Quadry Braxton last year. Thomas Eugene Harris II, 28, entered his plea on February 14, 2025, in Calvert County Circuit Court. He is scheduled to be sentenced on May 1, 2025, before Judge Mark S. Chandlee and faces the possibility of life imprisonment.
The case stems from an incident on February 15, 2024, when Calvert County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a critically injured man near the intersection of Armory Road and Fairgrounds Road in Prince Frederick. Deputies arrived at approximately 10:22 p.m. and found Braxton, 30, unresponsive in a field. He had sustained multiple stab wounds. Emergency Medical Services treated him at the scene and transported him to CalvertHealth Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
An investigation determined that the attack followed an argument between Harris and Braxton. The dispute arose over Braxton’s attempts to visit his child, whose mother was in a relationship with Harris. When Braxton arrived to see the child, Harris confronted him, and the situation escalated. Harris then stabbed Braxton multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Following the attack, Harris, his girlfriend, and the child left Calvert County and traveled to Prince George’s County. Investigators identified Harris as the suspect, and after several days, he turned himself in to authorities. He has remained in custody at the Calvert County Detention Center since his arrest.
With Harris’s guilty plea, the case moves toward sentencing, where he faces the possibility of life in prison. The investigation was conducted by the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau.
