LOS ANGELES — The U.S. Postal Service will celebrate the life and legacy of Betty White with a commemorative Forever stamp set to be released on March 27, 2025. The first-day-of-issue event will take place at the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens, where White was a longtime supporter of animal conservation efforts.
The event will be held at Allen Ludden Plaza, named after White’s late husband, and will be led by Amber McReynolds, chairwoman of the U.S. Postal Service Board of Governors. Fans who wish to attend can preregister for free admission to the zoo on the day of the event at usps.com/bettywhitestamp.
A Tribute to a Beloved Icon
The Betty White Forever stamp captures the warmth and humor that made her one of the most cherished figures in entertainment. The design features a digitally created portrait of White against a violet-colored background, accented with lighter bubbly spots that reflect her signature charm. She is shown wearing a polka-dotted blue top, with her name printed near the bottom. The words “FOREVER USA” appear below the portrait, indicating that the stamp will retain its value for First-Class Mail regardless of future price changes.
A Career of Unmatched Impact
Often referred to as the “First Lady of Television,” White’s career spanned over 60 years, earning her widespread acclaim and numerous awards. She won five Primetime Emmy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, and a Grammy Award. She also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and remains one of the most celebrated figures in television history.
From her breakout role on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” to her unforgettable performances in “The Golden Girls” and “Hot in Cleveland,” White left a lasting mark on American entertainment. Beyond her work on screen, she was known for her passionate advocacy for animal welfare. She worked closely with organizations such as the Los Angeles Zoo, the Morris Animal Foundation, and the American Humane Association. Her lifelong commitment to protecting animals made the Los Angeles Zoo a fitting location for the unveiling of her commemorative stamp.
