The St. Mary’s College of Maryland lacrosse programs earned multiple weekly honors from the United East Conference, with senior defenseman Jeremy Heath, senior attacker Hailey Betch, and senior midfielder Colin Horton all being recognized for their standout performances.
Men’s Lacrosse: Heath Earns Defensive Player of the Week

Heath, a senior defenseman from Chester, Maryland, was named United East Conference Defensive Player of the Week after his strong performance in St. Mary’s 11-10 victory over Randolph-Macon College on February 22.
Heath recorded a season-best three ground balls and forced two turnovers, playing a key role in shutting down the Yellow Jackets’ offense. His final ground ball recovery, with just six seconds remaining in the game, sealed the win for the Seahawks and helped snap a two-game losing streak to Randolph-Macon.
Currently, Heath is tied for seventh in the conference in caused turnovers. This is his second career United East weekly honor.
The Seahawks, now 2-1, will return to action on Saturday, March 1, when they travel to Virginia to take on Hampden-Sydney College in a 12 p.m. non-conference matchup.
Women’s Lacrosse: Betch and Horton Sweep Weekly Awards

The St. Mary’s College women’s lacrosse team claimed both United East Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards, with senior captains Hailey Betch and Colin Horton earning recognition.
Despite starting the season 0-2, the Seahawks have remained competitive, falling by just one goal in an overtime loss to Shenandoah University and dropping a close 11-9 contest to 15th-ranked Christopher Newport University.
Betch, a senior attacker from Severna Park, Maryland, earned United East Offensive Player of the Week honors after leading the team with a combined six goals, two assists, and 11 draw controls over the first two games. She posted four goals and an assist against Christopher Newport while adding six draw controls and one caused turnover. Betch currently ranks second in the conference in draw controls, goals, and points.
Horton, a senior midfielder from University Park, Maryland, was named United East Defensive Player of the Week after recording nine goals, two caused turnovers, six draw controls, and two ground balls through the opening two games. She tied her career high with six goals against Shenandoah and followed with three goals, two caused turnovers, and three draw controls against Christopher Newport. Horton leads the conference in goals and points while ranking third in caused turnovers.
The Seahawks, still seeking their first win of the season, will face 12th-ranked Roanoke College on Saturday, March 1, at Jamie L. Roberts Stadium in a 12 p.m. non-conference matchup.
