St. Mary’s College of Maryland will once again have strong representation at the NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships, with senior Luke Schwenk and sophomore Kelsie Miller among the 526 swimmers selected to compete at the national event. The championships will be held March 19-22 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.

For the second consecutive season, St. Mary’s will send two swimmers to the NCAA Championships. Schwenk will be making his third straight appearance, continuing a highly successful collegiate career, while Miller qualifies for the second time in as many seasons.

Schwenk secured his spot in three events—the 50- and 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke. A four-time All-American, he earned First Team All-America honors last year by placing fifth in the 50-yard freestyle and seventh in the 100-yard backstroke. As a sophomore, he was a Second Team All-American after finishing 14th in the 50-yard freestyle and 15th in the 100-yard freestyle.

According to the unofficial NCAA psych sheet, Schwenk enters the championships as the top seed in the 50-yard freestyle, having recorded a qualifying time of 19.64 seconds. He is also seeded seventh in both the 100-yard backstroke (47.95) and the 100-yard freestyle (43.72), each with NCAA B-standard qualifying times.

Miller will return to Greensboro after qualifying in the 100-yard butterfly, where she ranks 17th nationally with a B-standard time of 55.22 seconds. As an NCAA qualifier, she has the opportunity to compete in two additional events and has opted to enter the 200-yard butterfly, where she holds the 39th-fastest time, and the 100-yard freestyle, where she ranks 53rd.

The competition schedule will see Schwenk competing in the 50-yard freestyle on Wednesday, March 19, while Miller will swim in the 100-yard butterfly on Thursday, March 20. Schwenk will race in the 100-yard backstroke on Friday, March 21, with Miller also eligible to swim the 200-yard butterfly that day. Both Schwenk and Miller could close out their NCAA runs with the 100-yard freestyle on Saturday, March 22.

All sessions of the NCAA Championships will be streamed live on NCAA.com, allowing fans to follow the Seahawks as they compete on the national stage.
