ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. — The St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s lacrosse team claimed both United East Conference Player of the Week awards for the second time this season, as announced by the league office on March 10, 2025. Senior captain Hailey Betch and sophomore Claire Boudreau were named Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, following a split week for the Seahawks.

Betch, a 6-0 attacker from Severna Park, Maryland, earned her fifth career weekly honor and second of 2025. She opened the week with four goals, two assists, five draw controls, and one ground ball in a 16-12 loss at Stevenson University on March 5. Three days later, she tallied a season-high four goals—her third such performance this year—and added two draw controls in a 15-3 rout of Juniata College on March 8, securing St. Mary’s first win. Betch ranks second in the conference with 14 goals and 19 points, ties for second with five assists, and sits third with 22 draw controls.

Boudreau, a 5-8 defender from Towson, Maryland, secured her second consecutive Defensive Player of the Week award. Against Stevenson, she notched a career-high nine draw controls, two ground balls, and one caused turnover. In the Juniata victory, she led with seven draw controls, a season-best four ground balls, and two caused turnovers. Boudreau tops the United East with 30 draw controls and eight caused turnovers.

The Seahawks (1-4) went 1-1 last week, falling to Stevenson before dominating Juniata at home. “St. Mary’s College is coming off a 1-1 week that saw the Seahawks fall 16-12 at Stevenson University (Mar. 5) before dominating Juniata College (Mar. 8), 15-3, for their first win of the season,” the team noted. Next, they host Hartwick College (1-2) on March 16 at 11 a.m. at Jamie L. Roberts Stadium in a non-conference matchup.
