ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. — Seniors Keegan Preis and Jeremy Heath of the St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s lacrosse team earned United East Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively, as announced by the league office on March 24, 2025. This marks the second time this season the Seahawks have swept the conference’s weekly awards, highlighting their dominance in a 26-7 rout of Penn College on March 22 to open league play.

Preis, a 6-foot attackman from Upper Falls, Maryland (Loyola Blakefield), delivered a career-high six goals and five assists in the victory, securing his second career United East Offensive Player of the Week nod. His performance included reaching two milestones: his 200th career point and 150th career assist. Preis ranks third in the conference with 21 assists, ties for fifth with 18 goals, and sits fourth with 39 points, underscoring his pivotal role in St. Mary’s offense.

Heath, a 5-foot-10 defenseman from Chester, Maryland (Kent Island), anchored the defense with a career-best four caused turnovers and four ground balls against Penn College. Earning his second Defensive Player of the Week award of 2025, Heath ties for seventh in the United East with 10 caused turnovers and ranks 15th with 19 ground balls. His efforts helped limit Penn College to just seven goals, a testament to the Seahawks’ defensive strength.

The win improved St. Mary’s record to 6-3, building momentum after a 1-1 week earlier in March. The Seahawks, three-time defending United East champions per smcmathletics.com, next host No. 14 University of Lynchburg (3-4) on March 30 at 1 p.m. at Jamie L. Roberts Stadium in a non-conference clash. Lynchburg’s ranking adds intrigue to the matchup as St. Mary’s seeks to bolster its resume.

Preis and Heath join teammates Declan Horton, Aiden Doyle, Bret Hussey, and Joe Szymanski as 2025 United East award recipients, reflecting the program’s depth. With Preis driving the attack and Heath fortifying the backline, St. Mary’s remains a formidable contender in the conference and beyond.
